‘Destiny 2’ Talks Exotic Class Item Drop Rate, Hunter Nerfs, Glimmer Droughts

Destiny 2 is spooling up for the launch of its next Act in its Echoes Episode, but in the meantime, has taken to Twitter to address a number of questions players have posed about the current state of the game.

I’ve been going through the answers, including one to a question I asked, and there’s some good info here I think you should be aware of if certain things are bothering you in the game at the moment:

  • Prismatic Hunter is being looked at for nerfs due to its overperformance and annoyance in the Crucible.
  • There are no plans to add new raid mementos to old raids even if Salvation’s Edge now has one.
  • Can’t promise any specific weapons being reprised (Bygones was suggested, which I second) but they will compile a list of requests to pass along.
  • No plans to convert Ascendant Shards to glimmer for avid Grandmaster farmers.
  • Glimmer drop rates are likely going to be increased due to widespread shortages after Legendary Shard deletion.
  • The team is “aware” of the drop rates of exotic class items in the Pale Heart, or just the length of time and RNG it takes to get specific roles. Likely changes coming but no specifics or timeline.
  • Some guns are not taking enhanced perks as they should and that will be fixed.
  • They are taking feedback about even more Stasis buffs, which still feels lagging behind other subclasses.
  • Previously, not in this thread, Bungie has said they are looking at wide-ranging Titan buffs due to it falling way behind in both PvP and PvE use.

My main question was on exotic class item drops, as right now the farm is so exhausting that it just doesn’t seem worth it to go for a specific roll at all with such poor RNG. Either you can recruit a friend and run a fast but somewhat complicated mission on mic for a single drop, or you can roll around speed chest farming in the Pale Heart for faster drops but in a way that makes your brain want to fall out of your skull. There have to be better options here, and some have suggested focusing, duplication prevention or “saved” perks you amass. No word on what Bungie might actually do, but they will do something, I’d bet. Perhaps when Act 2 launches.

Bungie has been getting back on the communication train with players, sparked in large part by the return of DMG to the comms team after some time away and a stint at Riot Games. He left voluntarily ahead of the infamous layoffs at the company, but now he’s returned and communication has been improved. Previously, comms and social have been understaffed after layoffs. They probably still are, and those team members are making do.

So, interesting stuff here, looking forward to fixes and implementation on many of these items.
