Toni Kroos sends message to Barcelona’s Pedri after Spain star’s injury at Euro 2024
Toni Kroos has broken his silence on his tackle on Pedri and insisted he did not intend to hurt the Barcelona star during Germany’s quarter-final tie with Spain at Euro 2024.
Pedri had to go off in the opening exchanges of the match after a very hefty challenge from Kroos.
The Real Madrid man managed to escape a booking for his tackle, with Spain boss Luis de la Fuente saying afterwards it should have been a red card
Friday’s defeat to Spain was Kroos’ last as a professional, and he’s now written a lengthy post with a brief mention of Pedri at the end.
“In this way, still very important to me: forgiveness and get well soon to Pedri! Logically it wasn’t my intention to hurt you. A speedy recovery and all the best. You are a great player,” he wrote on Instagram.
Pedri has been diagnosed with a knee sprain following Kroos’ tackle and it remains to be seen when he’ll be able to return. Spain’s win means they face France next for a place in the Euro 2024 final.
