Judge Working on Disney Lake Nona Campus Relocation Lawsuit Removes Herself From Case

Judge Carolyn B. Kuhl has stepped down from the Lake Nona campus relocation lawsuit against the Walt Disney Company because her daughter works for the company.

New Judge Assigned to Lake Nona Campus Relocation Lawsuit

According to a report from Deadline, Kuhl stepped side last week and Judge Lawrence P. Riff was assigned Wednesday to oversee the lawsuit.

In the lawsuit, VP Product Design Maria De Le Cruz and Director of Product Design George Fong allege that the Walt Disney Company coerced them and their colleagues into relocating from Southern California to Orlando, due to the proposed Lake Nona Campus project that was eventually canceled in 2023.

The class action lawsuit was filed on June 18 in Los Angeles County Superior Court. In the lawsuit, the women claim that Disney gave them only 90 days to decide to either relocate or look for employment elsewhere. Since the project has now been canceled, the women are seeking unspecified punitive damages for all workers who relocated because of the Lake Nona Campus project. A status conference for the Lake Nona Campus relocation lawsuit will occur in Los Angeles on September 20.
