Health insurance by the numbers – a slideshow

Physicians, patients and political leaders all took notice of record high national health insurance rate of 92.8%, and record low uninsurance rate of 7.2%, in 2023.

When people have health insurance, they may be more likely to go to the doctor, a good thing for physicians who want to make a living by helping patients. But will that continue?

The Congressional Budget Office has published national projections about health insurance rates from this year to 2034. This slideshow presents some of those numbers, with references to the Affordable Care Act (ACA) Health Insurance Marketplaces, Medicare, Medicaid, and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP).

All data come from the article, “Health Insurance Coverage Projections For The US Population And Sources Of Coverage, By Age, 2024-34,” published in June 2024 in Health Affairs.
